Treasure Box

This page is all about sharing my Inspiration and Gratitude.

People, products, images, videos, websites, quotes … you’ll find a little bit of everything here.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without Vishva Ji and the World Conscious Yoga Family.  Learning the gift of yoga in Rishikesh, India was the first step in my wonderful adventure.  I want to acknowledge Vishva’s beautiful wife, Chetana Panwar for becoming my mentor for all things related to yoga philosophy.  Lastly, a big yogi hug to Divya Elting – she was a blessing to me in Rishikesh and I’m so grateful to know her.

Farhana Dhalla is truly my soul sister. Although we only speak every few weeks, she has been my greatest cheerleader and has encouraged me in a way that only a sister would: from the heart with the only agenda being to spread a little love.  Her book Thank You for Leaving Me , became an International #1 Best Seller within hours of launching.  This book is the must-read guide to flowing through a divorce or ending relationship with grace and dignity.  However, it’s not just a book about endings; it’s a book about life and new beginnings.

I can’t quite remember how I stumbled upon Danielle LaPorte a few years ago, but I am oh so glad I did. I was fortunate enough to spend an afternoon with her back in the Fall of 2009 and this completely changed my outlook on what was possible in life.  She taught me that it was damn fine to speak my truth and strut my stuff.  I am continuously in awe at all this woman creates (Big Beautiful Book Plan, The Fire Starter Sessions, The Desire Map and the soon to be released, Danielle Magazine).

A picture says a thousand words.  Andras Schram always manages to capture my true essence in every photograph that he takes: the dark, the light and the Divine. He doesn’t take pictures, he captures souls.

Reading The Art of Non-Conformity changed how I view the entire process of “work.”  It gave me permission to value experiences over “things” and not conform to how society thinks I should be making a living.  It inspired me to re-fuel my rogue-maverick gas tank and plunge into a non-traditional way of living and making money—all while creating a little change in the world.  Thank you, Chris Guillebeau.

Hillary Rubin – my Angel of Fire.  We met at Marie Forleo‘s RHH Live event in October 2011 and ended up getting side-by-side rub downs at a Chinese massage centre in NYC.  She keeps me focused on what’s working in my life and lovingly requests that I discard the stuff that keeps me stuck. She doesn’t put up with any of my whining and reminds me that when I get still, I become a manifesting machine.  If it weren’t for Hillary, I wouldn’t be coaching today.

Alanis Morissette. If I were granted a wish to have lunch with anyone in the world, it would be her.  I remember listening to the Jagged Little Pill album over and over and over and over again. It had a huge impact on me. The song Thank You became so much more powerful after my trip to India and was the subject of my final essay in the Yoga Teacher Training program. I get it now.

There aren’t many women out there I can say embody an angelic form of love.  Gemma Stone, however, does this without even thinking about it.  Her gentle and soothing presence is always a breath of fresh air in my life.  Anyone would be grateful to call her a friend.

Tad Hargrave is a quirky, Dr.Who-watching, marketing genius who has generously offered his advice and guidance on a variety of my projects. His ability to take what he loves to do and create a life of travel and adventure has inspired me to do the same.

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new.  But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and the exciting – for in movement there is life and in change there is power.” ~ Alan Cohen

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; for it becomes your destiny.
~ Upanishads

If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself, if you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation ~ Lao Tzu

The Wisdom of Yoga – Stephen Cope. One of the first books on yoga that truly inspired me to create change.

The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho.  A classic fable that I continue to read over and over again.

The Secret Power of Yoga – Nischala Joy Devi.  A woman’s perspective on yoga – so beautifully written.

Eat, Pray, Love – Elizabeth Gilbert.  The book that sparked my journey! I connected with this book in a powerful way.

The Art of Non-Conformity: Set Your Own Rules, Live the Life you Want and Change the World – Chris Guillebeau.  It’s possible – I’m doing it – and it’s easier than you think.  This book inspired me into action.

Start with Why – Simon Sinek.  One of the most inspirational speakers I’ve had the honour to hear live and in person.  This is a man who knows his WHY.

The White Tiger – Aravind Adiga.  A thrilling book that brought back memories of my time in India (Delhi, in particular).
